Recomendations for Teaching Preschoolers

A good friend of mine asked me for recommendations for homeschooling her preschooler. Here’s my reply in case any of you mama’s out there are wondering what to do. Also, I’d love to hear what you’re doing for your preschoolers. There are so many great ideas out there.

I’m so excited for you to get started for preschool! Preschoolers are so much fun because they love everything. I wish I could go back and start my kids younger and never send them to school.

Here are my …

Living An Extraordinary Life!

So the other day I just got fed up of living what I felt like was an ordinary life. I looked at some of the things I do and thought, “That’s just not right, I’m so boring!” I’ll just give you an example and you let me know if any of this rings true for you.

I hate being cold. I hate it when the weather changes. I always want it sunny and warm. So what I do when it gets cold? You’re all possibly going …

Math Helps For Elementary Age Kids

Math Helps For Elementary Age Kids

Teaching multiplication and fractions is something that I’ve really struggled with with one of my kids. I think it’s because I’m always overloading her with math facts much too quickly but I’ve finally found the solution! Well, 2 solutions. One for multiplication and one for fractions. I just have to share them with you!

Multiplication:

I have searched high and low for multiplication solutions. I’ve purchased books, CD’s with songs, made up my own charts and programs and anything else you can think of, I’ve tried. I …

A Little Homeschooling Jewel!

I was just online browsing homeschool curriculum, furniture and all of the other fun things we all love to do as homeschooling moms but have so little time for, because we’re so busy homeschooling and I came across a great site and idea! I have to share it with you because it’s so great and it’s all online for FREE download!

The site is 1plus1plus1equals1. It caught my eye because on her (Carisa’s) home page it says, “Never planned to homeschool. Now, I wouldn’t trade it …

Harry The Halloween Elf

Harry The Halloween Elf

Halloween is fun fun holiday with great games and some of the funnest parties of the year but there is one thing I’ve never been good at and that is getting rid of the candy without me or the kids eating it. I’ve known parents who just throw it away, others who have paid their kids to throw the candy away but I’ve never found anything that works for us. I usually just let them have as much as they want until it’s gone so …

5 Reads for Mothers With Younger Children

5 Reads for Mothers With Younger Children

By Special Expert: Sarah Kay

Have you ever read a book that spoke so completely to your soul that you thought the author must be sitting at your kitchen counter right now, watching your kids run around and chatting over a cup of coffee?  I love those moments, don’t you?

I have been learning to embrace my season of life.  Sometimes that is easier said than done; sometimes it is a daily battle to not want to retreat back to the corporate world, but instead stay to …

Knowing Your “Why” for Homeschooling

Knowing Your “Why” for Homeschooling

Last week I had such a powerful experience attending the Homeschool Chic event with Sky.  One of the most powerful things I took away was when she said how people tell her they could never homeschool because they don’t have the patience for it.  Her reply was something like, “when you know WHY you’re homeschooling, you can find the patience.”

(quote from http://backonpointe.tumblr.com/post/22279372569)

Sky then compared homeschooling to potty training, saying: if you can potty train your kids, you can homeschool them.  Both …
